Penang Attraction - Penang Hill
Penang Hill is a hill resort comprising a group of peaks in Penang, Malaysia. It is located in Air Itam, which is 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from the city centre of George Town. Penang Hill is also known by the Malay name Bukit Bendera, which refers to Flagstaff Hill, the most developed peak. Penang Hill was the first colonial hill station developed in Peninsular Malaysia. The hilly and forested area is the state's primary hill resort.

It was discovered when soon after British settlement; Francis Light commissioned the area to be cleared to grow strawberries. Though it was never fully developed (it was difficult to carve out the forest area), it became a favourite expatriate refuge before the advent of air conditioning. Its oldest bungalow, Bel Retiro, is the holiday residence of the Governor of Penang. Penang Hill 830 meters above sea level, standing at its peak, visitors will be able to watch the Penang island panorama. Penang Hill is a must-see tourist attractions.

Penang Hill has a Swiss-made in Asia's oldest funicular railway systems, coupled with a small cable car system, making visitors since 1923, you can easily up and down Penang Hill. After a slow train up the mountain steep hill, in the hillside another trip train ride you can reach the top, takes approximately 30 minutes. Along the way, can watch the beautiful villas, railway loose fat along with many plants grow. First train departure time is 6:30 am, the train station from Itam beginning has been to the summit, then down every half hour intervals.
